Your Itinerary for a Winter Escape in Denmark, Western Australia

Feeling the winter blues? Looking for the perfect mid-winter escape? Picture yourself slowing down and unwinding this winter at Stillwood, our cosy adults-only retreat. Imagine tasting fine wines and soaking up breathtaking landscapes that come alive in winter. Let’s dive into all the delights this charming town has to offer this season.

Day 1:

Driving from Perth? On this five-hour drive, our favourite halfway pit stop is Williams Wool Shed (in Williams). This is the perfect spot for a bite to eat, and coffee (oh and you can pick up the cosiest merino wool socks whilst you're there too.)

Kick off your winter escape by checking into Stillwood Retreat (check-in time is from 3pm). Nestled among the treetops, our cosy haven is the perfect blend of comfort and nature. Unpack, unwind, and let the beautiful surroundings wash over you.

Get settled in for a snug evening in. An excellent option for takeaway pizza is Massimo's (in town). Open up a bottle of wine, or toast marshmallows while sipping on hot chocolate by the fireplace. Take a steamy outdoor bath under the stars before dreaming the night away wrapped up in our luxurious Bed Tonic sheets.

Day 2:

Morning: Wake up among the treetops to a cup of freshly brewed Herbal Emporium tea or locally ground Stash coffee in bed. Our kitchenette is stocked with a beautiful array of local and Australian goodies for you to enjoy, including hand-blended herbal teas, hot chocolate, and locally ground coffee with compostable pods. Follow this with a morning stroll out to the jetty to soak in the wildlife – a perfect start to your day.

If you’re after a little cafe visit - why not head to Green Pantry or Ravens Coffee in town for a bite to eat.

Should a morning re-set be calling, take a look at the local classes run by Denmark Yoga Centre for a variety of classes on offer.

Mid-Morning: Craving some pampering? Head to Little Temple Day Spa in town and nourish and nurture your mind, body, and soul with their facials & skin treatments, hot stone massages and more! Bonus: they have heated massage beds too.

This spot gets busy so it's best to book ahead!  Your oasis of relaxation awaits!!

If the arts are more your thing, dive into Denmark’s vibrant art scene by visiting local galleries or cultural centers and get lost in the creativity. The Riverfront Gallery, and the Mixing Pot Art Gallery are must-sees, showcasing fantastic works by local artists – perfect for a memorable memento or gift.

Afternoon:

If you’re after a nourishing feed - check out Denmark Good Food Factory where you can grab a delicious bite, sample some their cider and gin, not to mention homemade toffee and famous condiments (PS - don’t forget to leave space for gelato!).

Afternoon: Spend your afternoon at Singlefile Winery, where you can choose your own adventure: we love their Sense of Place winery tours, chocolate and wine pairing, gin and cocktail tasting, or their wine and cheese-tasting experience. Book in your unique experience here.

Evening: Wrap up your day back at Stillwood Retreat. Spend the evening with a good book by the fireside or enjoy another soak in the hot tub. It’s the perfect way to end your magical winter escape.

Or if you'd like to dine out - a must-visit is our neighbouring winery Forest Hill Wines, which is home to Chef Silas Masih's acclaimed restaurant, Pepper & Salt (bookings recommended). Showcasing their winter menu is their slow-braised lamb shank with onion paan, and their char-grilled octopus, mojo rojo, fresh herbs and guava lime nectar entree. Yum!!

 Day 3

After a slow morning sipping on tea in bed, lace up your boots and explore the stunning beauty of Denmark. A stroll along near Greens Pool/Elephant Rocks or a hike through the towering forests of William Bay National Park is just the ticket. Feel the crisp winter air and soak in those scenic vistas – pure bliss!

For lunch:

Warm up post-walk at The Dam Denmark (with a unique Cannabis Distillery on site, cocktails, and an exquisite lunch/dinner menu). Ensure to keep an eye out on their socials for live music and events! You can also book a tour of their distillery via their website here.

Evening:

Your last night in Denmark has arrived.. venture out to Flametrees Denmark for a cocktail and a bite to eat. Snuggle up on the couch and watch the rain hit the window pane. We recommend their softly spiced mulled wine before tucking into a satisfying bowl of pasta.

Feeling satiated and relaxed, spend your last evening relishing in the tranquility of Stillwood. Soak up the stillness and star gaze from the outdoor bath, or snuggle up fireside before tucking in for the night.

Not Ready to Leave?:

If a cosy corner with a good book is more your speed, head over to Tea House Books Denmark. This charming spot is a bookstore, coffee shop, and tea room all rolled into one. Sip on something warm, nibble on homemade treats, and browse their delightful selection of books and gifts.

Time for a gourmet picnic! Lakehouse Denmark has got you covered with their delicious hampers. Whether you decide to enjoy it lakeside or take it to a scenic spot on your drive home, it’s the perfect leisurely lunch to savor as you venture home.

Check out our bookings page for availability and rates to ensure you don't miss out on this opportunity to discover the beauty and tranquility of Denmark this winter.
